 CONCERTS AND THEATRE GROUP

This group is currently suspended

This group was originally formed as an extension of the Music Group and gives an opportunity for all members of Leeds U3A, many of whom live alone, to attend concerts and theatres in the company of friends. In the past year we have been able to choose between orchestral concerts and recitals of classical and light music, brass band concerts and popular musicals and ballet at theatres. WOMEN AND RELIGION

" Women are the enemy on the path of purity"  (Samuytta-Nikaya, Buddhist Text)

Over the centuries, women have been both the focus of hatred and adoration within religions.  This complexity continues to shape our experiences in the world today. Each session, we will be focusing on one specific religion and there will be a short lecture, then a much longer discussion! We will be reading relevant scripture and interesting articles to help structure our discussion.   You do not need to have any direct experience or knowledge of religion before joining these groups, but an interest in discussion and debate will be useful!

The following religions will be covered in 2008:

9th October: Hinduism 13th November: Buddhism
27th November: Christianity
In 2009, we will cover Islam, Sikhism and Goddess Worship/Wicca.
